If you missed the first night of Jochem le Cointre's senior recital & opera, Steppenwolf, then you're in luck cause we have one more night left!
Pianist, composer and arranger, Jochem le Cointre, has written and produced his own opera for his final year at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music "revolving around one of the most exciting and controversial novels of our time - Steppenwolf".
Some words from the composer and producer:
" Ever since I got to know Hermann Hesse (through my mom's Hesse-books from the seventies) I have cherished his work and read everything I could get my hands on. He has been a guru to many generations of readers and thinkers and still today his confronting free spirit has a big impact on the youth.
With this musical-opera I hope to showcase the big themes of Hesse's work and shine a light on the place of beauty and art in our daily life: “Ah, but it is hard to find this track of the divine in the midst of this life we lead.”
The performances of this project will take place on Wednesday 11th of May 2016 and Thursday 12th of May 2016, at Old Tishman Hall on 12th street Manhattan(between 5th and 6th ave.) Together with a Production Team and fellow New York artists, I will collaborate in order to create and stage this work successfully. Set- and costume-designers are involved and it promises to be a very exciting show!" - Jochem le Cointre
